Monk Mode - Privacy Policy

Squeakbyte LLC built the Monk Mode app as a Commercial app. This SERVICE is provided by Squeakbyte LLC and is intended for use as is.

This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information when you use our Service.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, accessible at Monk Mode, unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

Monk Mode does not collect your name, email address, or contact details, and your meditation history, health data, and purchase details stay on your devices. The only information the app sends off your devices is optional usage information, described under "Usage Information" below.

Health Data

Monk Mode integrates with Apple HealthKit to read and write the following data types, only with your explicit authorization:

Health data is processed entirely on-device and is never sent to Squeakbyte LLC or any third party. Health data is never part of the usage information described below. You can revoke HealthKit permissions at any time through the Settings app on your Apple Watch or iPhone.

Usage Information

Monk Mode collects limited information about how the app is used, such as how many people use it and how its features are used, so we can make it better. This does not include your health data. We do not use it to identify you, and we do not share it with third parties.

This information is stored using Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). You must be signed in to iCloud for it to be sent. If you are not, nothing is sent and the app works the same.

You can turn this off at any time in Settings under "Share anonymous usage data." The setting applies to both your iPhone and Apple Watch.

Meditation Reminders

If you turn on meditation reminders, Monk Mode asks for permission to send notifications. Reminders are scheduled on your device as local notifications. The days and times you choose stay on your device, and you can change or turn them off in Settings or in the iOS and watchOS notification settings.

Purchases and Stored Status

Monk Mode is free to download and offers an optional one-time in-app purchase, Deep Practice. Payments are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Squeakbyte LLC does not receive or store your payment details or Apple ID.

To make the app work, including offline, Monk Mode checks your purchase status on your device using Apple's StoreKit. It stores a small record of that status, along with a count of the free sessions you have used each month, in your device's Keychain and app settings. The Keychain record may remain on your device if you delete the app, so that your purchase is recognized if you reinstall it. This information is never sent to Squeakbyte LLC or any third party. It is shared only between your own iPhone and Apple Watch, and through Apple's own services. The only exception is the usage information described above.

On-Device Processing

Almost all app functionality runs entirely on your devices:

Guided meditation audio is generated on-device using Apple's text-to-speech engine (AVSpeechSynthesizer).

Settings and session data are synced directly between your paired Apple Watch and iPhone using Apple's Watch Connectivity framework. This communication does not pass through any external servers.

Custom audio files you import for bell tones are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded or transmitted.

Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets read HealthKit data locally to display your meditation progress.

Your purchase status and free session count are stored locally on your device, as described above.

Monk Mode itself does not transmit any audio, session content, or health data off your devices at any time. The only information it sends is the optional usage information described above.

Emails You Send Us

If you choose to email us feedback, for example from Give Voice Feedback in Settings or the one time card after a guided session, you review and send that message yourself from your own mail client, and Monk Mode never sends anything automatically. The message, including any optional details you choose to include such as your app version, device model, OS version, locale, the text to speech voices installed on your device and the voice in use, is received by Squeakbyte LLC at monkmodeapp@gmail.com and used only to respond to you and improve the app.

Service Providers

Monk Mode does not use third-party analytics, crash reporting, or advertising services. No personal information is shared with third parties. Usage information is processed only through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit), under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. Purchases are processed by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy.

Security

Monk Mode does not operate its own servers for your personal data, and your health data and meditation history never leave your devices. They are protected by your devices' built-in security. Usage information is stored with Apple's iCloud.

This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. These external sites are not operated by us. We advise you to review the Privacy Policy of any external website you visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites or services.

Children's Privacy

This Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective when posted on this page.
